Community News:

Easter Egg Hunt:  Many thanks to Katie Garrett for coordinating and conducting the 2018 Easter Egg Hunt!  Nearly 40 children collected over 500 hidden eggs.  See the article in the April 2018 SCAN (SCA Newsletter) for more information on this fun event.

Ben's Run:  Saturday, April 14th, 2018 was a beautiful day for another highly-successful fundraiser for Children's Cancer!  While this is not an SCA event, we mention it because it is a great cause and another great example of what can be accomplished when people work together!

Mega-Developments in Rural Communities:  Greater Stonegate is part of the Cloverly Master Plan Area.  Part of the plan area is slated for low-density rural/residential purposes.  Right now, two separate Private Institutional Facilities ("PIF") are planning extremely large construction projects in the Cloverly Master Plan area.  The development plans exceed guidance of the master plan and present detrimental impacts to the environment and to area residents.  Efforts are underway to have the developments downsized to better fit into the community.

SCA Membership: We are well into our 2018 membership year, if you haven't renewed your membership for 2018, please do so now!

  • Membership count is especially important when there are issues that adversely affect our community.
  • Membership dues are the primary source of funds for covering the various association expenses which include meeting costs, some common-area landscaping, recognition of community contributors co-sponsorship of the 4th of July event and other fees and expenses.
  • Dues are just $20 per household.
    • You can pay on-line using either the "Join On-line" or the "Become a Member" tab in the right margin.
    • Or you can download a membership application from our document library (either separately, or from the most recent SCAN).
  • If you live in Greater Stonegate, please support this community organization by becoming a 2018 member.   If you are not sure about your membership status, just call or email the Membership Chairperson or send an inquiry using the "Contact Us" tab at the top of this page.

The Association is only as strong as the support it gets from the community.  Please plan to volunteer a few hours of your time.  There are lots of ways to help!

SCA Welcoming:  The 2018 Spring Welcoming campaign is scheduled for the March/April, 2018 timeframe.  If you settled on your home purchase between October 1st, 2017 and March 30th, 2018, and do not receive a Welcome pack by April 30th, 2018, or if you are renting in Stonegate and would like a Welcome pack, please use the "Contact Us" tab to let us know who you are.

Greater Stonegate's 4th of July Celebration

This year, we are looking for some new volunteers to coordinate the Parade arrangments.  This is a short-term volunteer project that needs to be started in late May.  It does not take a lot of hours and does present the opportunity for some SSL hours, so it is great for a scout troop or other group of adult-supervised kids!  Please use the "Contact Us" feature of the website to request more information.

Other details to follow.

 Community Activities:

For spring/summer/fall, we are looking forward to the reincarnation of the Tennis List and possibly some volleyball action (new!).  For gardening & honey enthusiasts there is some shared-beehive colonization happening.  An hour here or there of gardening support is more than welcome for keeping a couple of our community entrances looking their best and/or to help the MoCo Weed Warriors wrangle the invasive species at Maydale Nature Center.  Watch for more information on all of these in the upcoming edition of the SCAN or on the Listserv.

If you have an interest that you would like to share (books, chess, walking, music, kayaking, etc.), consider initiating a new group!  You can post the information on the Stonegate Listserv and use "Contact Us" to get it onto the website.

For more information, select the "Events and Activities" tab from the side menu and then click on "All Events".

Anything Else?

If you are an SCA member and you have a non-commercial event or announcement that you would like us to post, please use the "Contact Us" tab to tell us about it.
