How You Can Help

Stonegate Citizens Association is an all-volunteer organization.  It exists to help make and keep the Greater Stonegate Community a wonderful place to live.  There are numerous events and committees that need volunteers.  Volunteering not only helps the community, it is a great way to meet some of your neighbors and to learn something new.

If you are reluctant about making an on-going commitment, consider helping with a single event or meeting.  The most visible event is the Stonegate Fourth of July parade and cookout at the Stonegate Pool.  Other events include the annual banquet and a community Yard Sale.  It takes many individuals to make these events happen.

There are also various committees that can benefit from even a small or short-term commitment.  Examples include welcoming, membership, landscaping, adult or children activities, safety and security, education and legislative and zoning.  The SCA newsletter, listserv, website and directory are also volunteer productions.

For the young people in your household, volunteering may provide the chance to earn some Student Service Learning hours or to get experience, skills or contacts that may help land a future job!

Additionally, residents sometimes initiate community events or activities that do not originate as an SCA offering.  The residents post their event or activity on the SCA-hosted Listserv.  Additionally, the SCA supports these, to the extent the organizer wants, with postings on the website or in the  SCAN.  Examples include the Tennis List, Ben's Run, Little Free Libraries, Book Clubs that are open to new members, etc.
